Old Hall through the Years….
According to the records belonging to “Historic England” the original site was listed as “The Grange of the Abbott of Chester” – Due to the Abbotts prominence and standing in the community, his land was fully surrounded by a Moat which was accessible by the bridge which is still very much in use today. The Abbott was largely self sufficient predominately due to the well stocked fishponds which are still in evidence today deep within the woods. It is also worth noting that it is believed that the site has a “Doomsday Book” reference and that it also sits on a 100 mile “Roman Leyline” which ends at Chester Cathedral!
